Rework
This page has recently been reworked by the Michael's Zombies staff team. We are still working on fixing the redirects, but enjoy anyway!

The Undead Nocturn is the fourth map to be added to Michael's Zombies, released on June 26th, 2022.

Background

The Undead Nocturn is a large, run down map that takes place in an abandoned bunker. The bunker is in a state of disrepair, with holes in the roof and missing parts of the floor. Surrounded by endless forest, players must defend from the endless Zombies. The Undead Nocturn also brings a unique way to activate the power and access the Pack-A-Punch machine.

The Undead Nocturn brought in new features, such as:

  • The M2 Flamethrower, and the PTRS-41 Anti-Tank sniper rifle
  • A buildable power source
  • A triggerable mini-boss
  • A map-exclusive perk (Stamin-Up)
  • A new trap type (Flame Trap)

Map Analysis

Teleporter Pad

The teleporter pad room, commonly known as just the spawn room, is where players will start the match. This room holds a piece of the buildable power and the teleport receiver pad for the Pack-A-Punch machine.

There are 5 points of interest for the player:

  • 2 Wallbuys (Kar98k, M1A1 Carbine)
  • 1 Mystery Box location
  • 1 Perk Machine location (Quick Revive)
  • 3 Doors (1000 x 3)
  • 1 Power component, which can be found either:
    • At the small outside area, either in a pot or laying down
    • A vase behind the teleport receiver pad
    • On the shelf opposite the Quick Revive machine
    • Under the stairs to the right of the power assembly station

Ground Floor

This room is parallel to the starting room. It features two long corridors and the default Mystery Box spawn location. This room can be used for high round zombie training.

There are 5 points of interest for the player:

  • 2 Mystery Box locations
  • 1 wallbuy (M1 Thompson)
  • 1 Perk Machine location (Speed Cola)
  • 1 Door
  • 1 Flame Trap

Upstairs (Enclosed)

The enclosed area of the upstairs segment mirrors the ground floor below it, following the same two corridors with a hole in the floor on the left. When looking out towards the railing at the end of the corridor, players can observe the Michael Statue, the Pack-A-Punch machine and a blackboard telling the players to leave it alone. The Michael Statue can be shot from where it rests by shooting the boxes with a Ray Gun or a Panzerschreck.

If the players choose to disturb the Michael Statue, they will be able to upgrade their weapons. However, this comes with a price..

There are 4 points of interest for the player:

  • 1 Perk Machine (Double Tap)
  • 3 Doors (1000 x 3)
  • 1 Wallbuy (Trench Shotgun)
  • 1 Power component, which can be found:
    • Between two boxes in front of the stairs leading upstairs
    • Under the stairs going upstairs
    • Tucked behind the green box next to the drop down

Upstairs (Open)

The open upstairs area provides a view to the forest outside. Residing above the spawn room, this makes as a risky but worthwhile place to train zombies in. This area contains the rubble wall players must break.

There are 5 points of interest for the player:

  • 1 Rubble Wall
  • 2 Wallbuys (MP40, Bowie Knife)
  • 1 Door
  • 1 Mystery Box location
  • 1 Power component, found either:
    • In a closet
    • Laying near the MP40 wallbuy

Third Floor (Enclosed)

The upper floor contains an escape route to fall off of, as well as a place to camp out for higher rounds.

There are a few points of interest for the player:

  • 1 Perk machine (Juggernog)
  • 1 Mystery Box location
  • 1 [REDACTED]
  • 1 Power component, found either:
    • On the shelf
    • Chilling on the floor near the window

Third Floor (Rubble Wall)

This area is considered a secret and must be unlocked by destroying the wall with the Ray Gun or the Panzershrek. This room holds one of the secrets needed to unlock Pack-A-Punch.

There are 3 points of interest for the player:

  • 1 Perk machine (Mule Kick)
  • 1 Soul Box (150 Capacity)
  • 1 Wallbuy (Bouncing Betty)

Panzer Michael

For more in-depth info of Panzer Michael, see: Panzer Michael

Panzer Michael is a boss that players must take on should they wish to unlock Pack-A-Punch. Panzer Michael will only spawn in 5 rounds after players disturb the Michael statue, and will spawn every 3 rounds consecutively until the game is over. A loud mechanical noise will play on the round he is due to arrive.

Panzer Michael will arrive via jetpack:

  • In front of the teleporter pad, or
  • In front of the main staircase

When defeated, Panzer Michael can drop:

  • A perk bottle power up, which grants the player a random perk they currently do not have, up to 6. This will drop on the first appearance, and then once every 6 rounds. Sometimes the Perk Bottle will give you Stamina Up, a perk exclusively given by the Perk Bottle powerup.
  • A Max Ammo power up, granting every player full ammo for all of their weapons. This will drop on the second appearance, and then every 6 rounds afterwards.
  • A random power up in place of the other two.

One Panzer Michael will spawn if the player count in the server is below 3. Two will spawn if the player count is higher than 3. Health will ramp up accordingly depending on the player count, but on his first appearance, he will always have the base amount of health regardless of player count. Should you be downed by a Panzer while playing in a Solo server with Quick Revive, it will disappear and return 3 rounds later.

Pack-A-Punch

The Pack-A-Punch machine can only be unlocked by completing a series of tasks beforehand. It costs 4500 points and will almost double the damage of any weapon entered into it. The Pack-A-Punch camo is represented by a mossy green, meant to represent abandonment.

The Pack-A-Punch model was re-used from the scrapped Hydro Plant map.

Unlocking Pack-A-Punch

To access the machine, players must:

  • Obtain a Ray Gun or Panzershrek
  • Shoot the rubble wall leading upstairs
  • Fill the Soul Box to maximum capacity (A teleporter link sound will play when completed)
  • Pay the price (Shoot the Michael statue with a Ray Gun or Panzershrek)
  • Use the teleporter receiver pad in the Spawn room

Trivia

  • This map is a re-imagining of the map Nacht der Untoten from Call of Duty: World at War.
  • This is the only map that features the requirement of constructing the power supply.
  • This is the first map to introduce the concept of a boss that players must fight. The next map being Michael Barrel.
  • The Undead Nocturn is the only map (so far) to feature a Perk that is not obtainable with points.
  • Behind the soul box is a note saying "a cheap tactic to artificially inflate the difficulty of the map. -some random reviewer"
