Panzer Michael is a boss encountered in The Undead Nocturn and Hallow's Eve.

Background

Panzer Michael, more commonly referred to by the community as just the Panzer, is a secret boss that players are able to encounter in The Undead Nocturn and Hallow's Eve 2022. Debuting in ALPHA 1.3.0, or The Undead Nocturn update, Panzer Michael is a heavy mechanical suit that is controlled at the head by Michael himself. The helmet features the signature Michael's Zombies cat head, as well as a headlamp, a jetpack, and a plunger serving as a right arm. A loud mechanical sound will play, indicating his imminent arrival.

Panzer Michael will always target the player closest to it once the arrival animation is over. With a faster base speed than the player, the Panzer will chase down whoever it targets, eventually catching up to them. This can be countered with Stamin-up or slide cancelling. Panzer Michael will break focus if a player approaches too close to them or he catches and downs the player he targetted.

There are two attacks to look out for when Panzer Michael is chasing you, which are:

  • Grapple Arm: Used to get the Let Go of Me! badge.^ Michael will attempt to grapple a player, and if successful, will drag them back to him in order to kill them. Players can shoot the arm beforehand in order to escape.
  • Punch: Michael will swing his arm if close enough to player, dealing 50 damage (or 100 with Juggernog) and will fling them a considerable distance, including into hordes of zombies and into corners. It takes two hits to go down from this regardless of whether you have Juggernog or not.

^ 23/4/23: This currently does not work and the badge is unobtainable. It is scheduled to be fixed. Fixed.

The Undead Nocturn

Panzer Michael is regarded as the "price to pay" for unlocking the ability to Pack-A-Punch on the Undead Nocturn. To defeat him, players must use their newly upgraded weapons in order to defeat him, as without them, it is a much harder struggle. Panzer Michael will never leave the players alone, only stopping once he is defeated, or he defeats all the players.

Panzer Michael will only spawn in once players disturb the Michael Statue in the old ruins outside the map. His first appearance will be 5 rounds from when the statue has been disturbed, and will then spawn in every 3 rounds until the game ends. Upon his first arrival, Panzer Michael will spawn in front of either the Pack-A-Punch machine, or in front of the stairs. He will not be scaled to how many players will be in the game, making him an easy kill. His second appearance will have the correct scaling, which is:

  • Base + Hallow's Eve 2022 (50,000HP)
  • 1 Player/Solo: None^ (139,299HP)
  • 2 Players: Health Increase (169,944HP)
  • 3 Players: Health Increase, 2x Panzer Michael (200,590HP)
  • 4 Players: Health Increase (231,235HP)
  • 5 Players: Health Increase (261,881HP)
  • 6 Players: Health Increase (292,527HP)

^ Panzer Michael will despawn entirely if a player goes down with Quick Revive on solo. He will return when he is expected next. Thanks to MiniBlueMan10 for providing the HP figures.

Hallow's Eve 2022

While Hallow's Eve is not publically accessable, players can still encounter Panzer Michael on the map naturally and through events. Note that Hallow's Eve does not feature the Nocturn health scaling system, and only one will spawn per round. Players can encounter Panzer Michael via:

  • The "Uh oh.." trick by opening a door.
  • Naturally after round 20. A Panzer will spawn each round after 20, even if the previous is not killed.
  • Attempting to escape Hallow's Eve

While a Panzer will spawn after round 20, there is no limit for how many Panzer's can be on the map at one time. Any previous Panzer's left from the last round(s) will gain a speed buff.

Strategies

Panzer Michael has a regular size health pool when unscaled, but with a full game lobby, he can quickly become an overwhelming force. Panzer Michael will gain a speed boost when:

  • There are 2 players in the session (+1)
  • There are more than 2 players in the session (+2)
  • The round ends (x1.5, capped at 2x)
  • His face shield is destroyed (+5)

The recommended strategies for dealing with Panzer Michael are:

General Strategies

  • Avoid any type of weapon that does not fire a physical bullet. This includes the Panzershrek, Ray Gun and the M2 Flamethrower.
  • Take care when using heavy weaponry. Weapons like the LSAT, M1919 Browning, and MG42 are great contenders until they need to be reloaded, in which you will get yourself killed.
  • Aim for the head. Weapons will deal their headshot multiplier and will give players a moment to breathe once it comes off, as Panzer Michael stops moving.
  • High headshot multiplier weapons such as the upgraded Walther P99, Saiga 12, and MP40 are great for finishing off the Panzer early into the round.

Early Game Strategies

Should you deal with a devious individual who likes to disturb the Michael statue early game, you can:

  • Get your hands on Speed Cola and/or Double Tap
  • Light weaponry, such as the M1 Thompson or MP40 can help you evade and take out the Panzer early
  • Do not end the round he spawns in on.

Rewards

Panzer Michael will drop power ups when he is defeated, making a loud metal pipe noise upon death, with a mini Michael cat running away. Should 2 Panzer Michael's spawn in the map, only one will drop rewards for the player. He can drop:

  • 1 Perk bottle, typically dropped on every odd number death. Players will receive a perk at random for free, including Deadshot and Stamin-up outside of their respective maps.
  • 1 Max Ammo with a 50% drop chance. Dropped every even number death.
  • Any random power up. Random chance to drop alongside guarenteed reward.

Trivia

  • The design of Panzer Michael is heavily drawn from the Panzersoldat from the Call of Duty series.
  • The sound played when Panzer Michael spawns in is from the Der Eisendrache map in Call of Duty, Black Ops III.
  • The Wunderwaffe DG-2 is the only weapon capable of truly "instakilling" the Panzer, albeit only in VIP servers.
  • With Godmode, players can experience being flung around the map in Hallow's Eve during the finale. I feel bad if you have epilepsy.
  • Panzer Michael can sometimes get stuck out of bounds. You can find him by looking out of the hole in the roof in front of the teleporter pad.
