Michael Barrel is the seventh map to be added to Michael's Zombies. It was released on the 28th of July, 2023.

Background

Michael Barrel is a large, winter-set map that takes place at an abandoned, run down restaurant, with holes in the roof and collapsed parts of the building. Similar to The Undead Nocturn, endless trees and forests surround the map, with an infinitely stretching road. Michael Barrel brings in various new features, including the new Perk activation system, crafting, a boss fight, and more.

Map Analysis

    • OR outside of Michael Barrel, near the right entrance, also frozen in a chunk of ice

    • Can be found outside of Michael Barrel on a chair right next to the Right Entrance
    • As well as on the left-back side of the roof, frozen in a chunk of ice
    • And the right end of the Left Entrance, on a bookshelf

Jerome

Jerome

Jerome, near a mystery box

Jerome currently serves as a small mini-boss, in a lesser scale than the Undead Nocturn and Panzer Michael. Jerome is a large zombie sporting a janitors uniform that will endlessly track and follow the players at a slow walkspeed, dealing ~25% damage (13.33% with Juggernog) of the players health should they be hit by him. He will spawn in every 4-6 rounds at random, much like the Hellhounds of Der Riese.

Jerome has a second phase after receiving enough damage, causing him to hit harder (33.3%) at the players and follow them at a much faster walk-speed.

Jerome has the possibility to drop:

  • Max Ammo powerup
  • Perk bottle

Snowfella: Phase 1

Main Article: Snowfella

Snowfella is the main antagonist behind Michael Barrel, being a golem-like figure comprised of snow. Players must summon Wintiachel's, a child of Michaels's presence by all obtaining the Zipline harness and accessing the arena. Wintiachel will respond to you awakening him by waking up Snowfella to take care of you.

Snowfella can currently do the following attacks:

  • Snowball Throw: Can be done in 1 or 3 increments, able to down a player not running Juggernog. Players can destroy the snowballs or parry the attack with the Frying Pan.
  • Nun-chuck swing: Snowfella will swing his weapon at a player, dealing heavy damage if it hits.
  • Snowball Artillery: Multiple lock-on snowballs that will appear as a warning triangle around all players.
  • Slam: Snowfella will rise up in the air and fall back down, dealing a large shockwave and throwing players in the air.

You will be rewarded with the Pack-A-Punch machine for defeating Snowfella in his first phase. The camo on Michael Barrel is blue and white, representing an ice-style pattern.

Helicopter

The Helicopter can be found as a crashed wreck in the spawn area of Michael Barrel. Players are required to re-build the helicopter in order to progress after the Snowfella battle. The Helicopter is able to be used as an assist tool against Snowfella or be used to escape the map.

The Helicopter requires the following parts to be completed:

  • Rotor
  • Tail
  • Weapons Platform
  • Launch Tube
  • Ski's

Snowfella: Phase 2

Phase 2 Snowfella becomes a lot more dangerous after Wintiachel finds out what you did to him. After taking out your support helicopter, he personally assists Snowfella in order to defeat you.

Alongside the previous attacks from Phase 1, Snowfella also gains:

  • Immunity shields from Wintiachel
  • Health regeneration from Michael Statues

There's also Wintiachel, who uses the following attacks:

  • Laser Beams, which don't lead to much damage, but sometimes destroy Snowfella's large snowball attacks.
  • Energy Bullet, which can be parried by the Frying Pan, and is comparable to Snowfella's large snowballs

Once he is defeated for the second time, the helicopter pilot will save the player from certain death by Wintiachel, capturing him and granting escape.

Easter Eggs

There are many Easter Eggs inside of Michael Barrel, one of the most notable easter eggs unlocks the perk Deadshot. The map also features many other small Easter Eggs. Below is a list of easter eggs as well as steps to activate the Deadshot Easter Egg.

Counting Game (Deadshot)

Step 1

Around the main Michael Barrel building there are red and black checkers scattered all around the downstairs area of the building, these checkers spawn in the following areas.

Checkers

Red and black checkers near the electric trap.

*At the right side of spawn there is red and black checkers next to/on top of wooden tables near the Walther P99 wallbuy.

  • Also on the right side of spawn, at the ramp that leads to the roof of Michael Barrel.
  • On top of a table and a barrel near the M2 Flamethrower buy.
  • At the left side of spawn, near a painting of zombified 1Joeb and on a broken table.
  • Left side of spawn on top of a table next to one of the randomized perk locations.
  • Where the Electricity Trap is located, at the left side of spawn.
Christmas tree

Christmas tree with blue ornaments.

Remember to tally the number of red and black checkers you manage to find.

There are also blue ornaments on the Christmas trees scattered around the Michael Barrel, tally the number of the ornaments that you find as well.

Step 2

Bathroom1

The right side bathroom sinks, colored black, blue, and red respectively.

Once you tallied all the red and black checkers and the ornaments proceed into the right side bathroom (the side with the randomized perk and the Sawed Off wallbuy.) Inside the bathroom you'll find three sinks each color coded black, blue, and red, respectively.

Use your melee to knife each sink, the amount of times you have to do it depends on how much of each checker/ornament you found and have counted. (Ex. You find 14 red checkers, therefore you have to melee the red colored sink 14 times.) When you melee the sink it also produces a sound respective to each sink.

Once you've knifed each sink proceed into the next bathroom to the left, where the Trench Shotgun wallbuy is at.

Step 3

Bathroom2

The left side bathroom sink with all 3 colors combined.

After you've tallied all the checkers and ornaments, you are going to have to melee the sink that has all 3 colors on it in the left side bathroom. If you've done your counting correctly then a distinct sound will play that will make Deadshot appear in the Kitchen sink, if not then you will have to start over again. The Deadshot perk is now available for 1500 points and is also the only perk that does not need power.

Deadshotbottle

The Deadshot bottle, available after completing the counting game.

Other Easter Eggs

  • At the right side of spawn there is a patch of yellow snow, if you hold F to eat it you take damage as well as lose a singular point, it also plays a vine boom sound effect.
  • There are presents around the map, shooting them will grant the player 50 points each.
  • At the left side of the map in an inaccessible area you can find a PNG image of Freddy Fazbear, shooting Freddy will play his famous jumpscare sound effect, make Freddy disappear, and make the player gain 87 points.
  • There are figurines of 3 developers around the main Michael Barrel area, thedotmann can be found on the left side of spawn, on a shelf next to a randomized perk location. EpicRedPandas can be found on a shelf near the bathroom entrance, and UnderMyWheel can be found on the left side of spawn next to a painting of zombified Kyles45678.
  • Paintings of zombified devs as well as known people can also be found on the left side of spawn including logitech101, the developer behind Project Lazarus, and the main developers of Michael's Zombies 1Joeb and Kyles45678. There's also a painting of Starbattle but he's already zombified anyways.
  • Under the ice where the lake is there are 2 people buried under the ice, PoraloTheStupid and parsay_t, they were buried under the ice after winning a community raffle.
  • Under the ice also contains the perk machine to the unreleased perk PHD Slider.
